A PASSION FOR GLASS

Weekly glass sessions for the committed.

An glass project in progress showing a printed photo of a forest, alongside a sketch of the forest scene, and a glass interpretation of the forest with trees, a lake, and mountains in the background.

These sessions are held weekly from my studio every Monday and Tuesday to a regular group of people who range from absolute beginners to those who have been coming for ten years.

Some have purchased their own kilns and want to extend their expertise in specific areas. You can drop in anytime for three hours between the time slots below which allows for individuals to work at their own pace and chose what to make. Regulars are often developing three or four ideas alongside each other at a time.

Below is how Sue H feels about coming to my class regularly, ‘A Passion for Glass’ soothes the soul and inspires your mind. I wake up every Monday morning thinking “ Ooh, it's my glass class today.”

It's not unusual for Sue to sit beside you for an hour, informing and encouraging you until you feel confident, exploring new skills and gently guiding you to achieve whatever it is you want to make. It might be a project that takes weeks to complete or it could be smaller pieces. You choose.

“What do you think would happen if?....” or “How can I?.. .” are questions often heard in the class as we explore our creativity and skills at our own level.

The miracle of the kiln and Sue's expertise make this a very rewarding and personal journey.

The studio is a fantastic space for people interested in glass to come and experiment working with glass in an artist's studio with access to professional tools, equipment and artistic know-how.

More about the weekly glass sessions.

The sessions are a great opportunity to be inspired and experiment in a relaxed studio environment with the support of an experienced glass artist.

What they say …

  • “What you’ve managed to build here is the most fantastic, comprehensive range of facilities, but also you have such knowledge, and the knowledge enables the rest of us to do things we couldn’t otherwise even consider.”

  • “The weekly sessions at Sue’s studio provide me with the opportunity to work with like-minded people.  As a group of individuals who love working with glass, we share ideas and experiment with techniques, drawing upon the specialised knowledge of Sue to support our activities.  Attendance at the weekly sessions has I believe supported all of us in developing our knowledge and understanding of working with glass.  Sue’s approach has never been to be prescriptive about what activities we undertake in the weekly sessions, she listens to the objectives of each individual has set themselves for the session and provides the appropriate input to enable those objectives to be met.”
